Allergy means something which a living organism does not agree to. It can be even a scent that can lead to migraines or it could be dust on your upholstery that can give you congestion. The swelling may subside but the nut problem will be there for some years. Stomach upsets owing to nut allergy are very common. There could be flatulence, a tearing sensation in your gut or even at times the gut can swell to an extent. People who are asthmatics must be very careful about nut allergy as their situation can get aggravated.
